About the project

What is Dumas Sea Face?

Dumas Sea Face is a large-scale urban seafront redevelopment project by Surat Municipal Corporation. The project transforms the 5.3 km coastline at Dumas, where the Tapi River meets the Arabian Sea, into a world-class eco-tourism and recreational destination.

The project is being compared to Mumbai’s Marine Drive. A wide walking promenade, cycling track, garden areas, kids play zone, art installations and seating along the Arabian Sea, all free for citizens of Surat.

Important tips for visitors

πŸ•—
SMC extended closing time to 8 PM following public demand. Lights stay on until 8:15 PM. Plan your visit so you arrive by 6 PM to enjoy the full sunset and evening atmosphere.
β˜€οΈ
Most seating and benches have no shade at all. In summer, the stone benches get very hot between 10 AM and 4 PM. Carry an umbrella or visit only during early morning or evening hours.
πŸš—
On weekends and public holidays, traffic near the Sea Face gets severely congested. The access road is narrow. If visiting in the evening on a weekend, leave before 6 PM to avoid getting stuck for an hour.
βœ…
Free parking is available. Come early on weekdays. Parking fills up by afternoon on weekends. The underground multi-level parking building is under construction and will open soon.
βœ…
The Sea Face is right beside Dumas Beach. You can walk from the promenade to the beach in a few minutes. Many visitors combine both in one trip and grab street food at the Dumas stalls nearby.
🌊
Do not come expecting to see the sea right at your feet. Due to tidal changes and proximity to the Tapi River estuary, the sea water is often far from the promenade. The sea view is beautiful but the water level changes throughout the day.
🍽️
Food options inside the Sea Face are currently limited. For the full street food experience, Bhajiya, Pav Bhaji and Gathiya, head to the Dumas Beach stalls which are just a short walk away.
πŸ—‘οΈ
Cleanliness is a genuine concern. The place is beautifully built but visitors are littering. Use the dustbins provided. Be a responsible visitor and help keep this place beautiful.
πŸ“Έ
Best time for photos: early morning 6 to 8 AM for clean golden-hour shots with no crowd, or 5 to 6:30 PM for sunset and lit promenade shots. Bring your phone fully charged. The views are worth it.
