Designed by INI Design Studio, Ahmedabad and built by Surat Municipal Corporation, it has transformed the traditional Dumas shoreline into a modern Marine Drive-style promenade that the entire city is proud of.

About the project
What is Dumas Sea Face?
Dumas Sea Face is a large-scale urban seafront redevelopment project by Surat Municipal Corporation. The project aims to transform the 5.3 km coastline at Dumas to where the Tapi River meets the Arabian Sea to into a world-class eco-tourism and recreational destination.
The project is being compared to Mumbai’s Marine Drive, and for good reason. A wide walking promenade, cycling track, garden areas, kids play zone, art installations, and seating along the Arabian Sea to all free for citizens of Surat.
Designed by INI Design Studio, Ahmedabad, the master plan covers 252 acres divided into 4 zones. Phase 1 of Zone 1 opened in March 2026 and already draws over 10,000 people daily.

Sunset is stunning. Sea breeze is refreshing. Lights come on. Most popular time to visit.

Very hot with no shade. Stone benches get burning hot. Not comfortable in summer months.
π‘ The Sea Face closes at 7 PM and lights switch off at 7:15 PM. Many people feel the place is at its most beautiful in the evening to plan to arrive by 5 PM to enjoy the full sunset experience before closing time.
π¬ A lot of people feel the 7 PM closing time is too early and wish it were extended to 9 PM or later to especially to enjoy the lights and sea breeze after dark. This is a common feedback and SMC may revise timings in the future.

The Sea Face closes at 7 PM sharp. Lights switch off at 7:15 PM. Security ensures everyone leaves on time. Plan your visit so you are there before 5 PM to enjoy the full experience.

Most seating and benches have no shade at all. In summer, the stone benches get very hot between 10 AM and 4 PM. Carry an umbrella or visit only during early morning or evening hours.

On weekends and public holidays, traffic near the Sea Face gets severely congested. The access road is narrow. If visiting in the evening on a weekend, leave before 6 PM to avoid getting stuck for an hour.

Free parking is available. Come early on weekdays to parking fills up by afternoon on weekends. The underground multi-level parking building is under construction and will open soon.

The Sea Face is right beside Dumas Beach. You can walk from the promenade to the beach in a few minutes. Many visitors combine both in one trip and grab street food at the Dumas stalls nearby.

Do not come expecting to see the sea right at your feet. Due to tidal changes and the proximity to the Tapi River estuary, the sea water is often far from the promenade. The sea view is beautiful but the water level changes throughout the day.

Food options inside the Sea Face are currently limited. For the full street food experience to Bhajiya, Pav Bhaji, Gathiya to head to the Dumas Beach stalls which are just a short walk away.

Cleanliness is a genuine concern. The place is beautifully built but visitors are littering. Use the dustbins provided. The wind often blows dustbin lids off to so hold onto your wrappers. Be a responsible visitor and help keep this place beautiful.

Dumas Sea Face is the newly developed modern promenade built right next to it. Most visitors enjoy both in a single trip to walking the promenade and then heading to the beach for street food.
Why is there no sea water visible from the Sea Face?
Dumas is located near the Tapi River estuary, which means tidal changes affect water levels significantly. During low tide, the sea recedes far from the shore. The sea view from the promenade is still beautiful, and the water comes closer around 4 PM to 5 PM. This is a natural phenomenon and not a problem with the development.
